Kase, Chris (Trumpet)

chris-kase-01-color-scaled.jpgMr. Kase studied at Boston’s prestigious Berklee College of Music, where he earned a Bachelor of Music Degree (cum laude). He then went on to earn a Master of Music degree in Classical Trumpet at the University of Massachusetts at Lowell, where he was a student of and graduate assitant to Natalo Paella. He has also studied with jazz recording artists Mike Metheny, Louis Mucci, Randy Brecker, Kenny Wheeler, Greg Hopkins, Laurie Frink, Jack Walrath, and Ralph Alessi.

Mr. Kase was one of fifteen trumpeters chosen from all over the world to participate in the semi-finals of the Thelonious Monk International Jazz Trumpet Competition, held in Washington, DC in 1997. While living in New York City, he was Professor of Trumpet, Ensemble and Theory at the Mannes College of Music as well as at the New School for Social Research Jazz and Contemporary Music Program.

Presently, Mr. Kase maintains an active performance and recording schedule throughout Spain. He is Professor of Jazz Trumpet at Musikene, the Superior Conservatory of Music of the Basque Country in San Sebastián, a position he has held since 2003. He has released eight albums as a leader, and more than seventy of his original compositions have been recorded and released.
