Lucas, Heidi (Horn)

lucas-resize.jpgDr. Heidi Lucas is currently Assistant Professor of Horn at Indiana University of Pennsylvania, where she teaches applied horn, directs the horn choir, and is a member of the faculty woodwind and brass quintets and the Eastern Standard Trio (horn, tuba, and piano). Prior to her appointment, she taught for seven years at the University of Southern Mississippi. Her orchestral experience includes the Louisiana Philharmonic, Memphis Symphony, Pennsylvania Philharmonic, and the Aspen Festival Orchestra, among others. International performances include concerts in Austria, Germany, Panama, England, Brazil, Australia, and Russia. She has had several publications, including reviews in the Horn Call and articles in the Grove Dictionary of American Music.

Dr. Lucas has been part of 30 commissioning projects for new works, some of which may be heard on Eastern Standard’s self-titled album. Dr. Lucas can also be heard on the New York Philomusica’s 2008 recording of Haydn’s L’isola Disabitata, the Keystone Winds’ upcoming album of the works of Fisher Tull, Centaur Records’ The Voice of the Coelecanth: Music of William Bergsma and Eastern Standard's debut album Eastern Standard.

Dr. Lucas holds degrees from the Crane School of Music/SUNY Potsdam (BM), the Eastman School of Music (MM) and the University of Georgia (DMA).
