Sutton, William (Euphonium)

Dr. Will Sutton is Assistant Professor of Music at North Dakota State University, where he teaches trombone, conducts ensembles, and contributes to the music theory curriculum.

Dedicated to holistic musicianship and community engagement, he works with students to foster technical mastery, creative expression, and collaborative performance.

Before joining the NDSU faculty, Dr. Sutton served as Assistant Professor of Music at Northwest Missouri State University, where he taught low brass and music theory and directed the Northwest Concert Band. His commitment to music education extends beyond the academic year. Each summer, he teaches music theory and low brass at the New England Music Camp in Sidney, Maine, mentoring developing musicians in an immersive artistic environment.

As a performer, Dr. Sutton maintains an active and versatile career. He has appeared with professional ensembles including the Kansas City Symphony, Grand Rapids Symphony, Topeka Symphony, St. Joseph Symphony, Lansing Symphony, Orchestra of Northern New York, Holland Symphony, and the Capital Region Wind Ensemble. His solo playing can be heard on the Kendor Music label.

Dr. Sutton has been invited to perform and present at the Midwest Regional Tuba and Euphonium Conference, International Tuba and Euphonium Conference, and the Nebraska Music Educators Association Conference, and has served as a guest artist, presenter, and adjudicator at the International Women’s Brass Conference and the Boise State Low Brass Camp. He has also adjudicated and performed at the Leonard Falcone International Euphonium and Tuba Festival and serves on the Falcone Board of Directors, contributing to one of the most prestigious events in the low brass community.

A sought-after clinician and guest conductor, Dr. Sutton works frequently with student and community ensembles throughout the Midwest and beyond. He is an Eastman/Willson/Shires artist and remains passionate about building community and connection through the shared experience of music.
