Fitzgerald Pacher, Brigit (Bassoon)
Dr. Brigit Pacher is an artist determined to positively impact students, audiences, and collaborators with her art.
She is delighted to carry out this mission as Visiting Assistant Professor of Music at Lawrence University and Conservatory, a position she has held since Fall 2023.
Brigit has been featured as a soloist with the Fox Valley Symphony, National Repertory Orchestra, University of Texas Symphony Orchestra, and Vanderbilt University Orchestra, and Phoenix Symphony. In addition to being a semifinalist in the Meg Quigley Vivaldi Competition (2023), she placed first in the National Bassoon Meetup Artistry Competition (2021), the Young Texas Artist Music Competition (2022), and the First International Bassoon Tango Competition (2022). She held a previous appointment as Principal Bassoon of the Victoria Symphony Orchestra in Victoria, TX (2021-2023) and maintains an active freelance career. Brigit advocates for new music as a member of two contemporary chamber groups: Density512 and the SoundMap Ensemble.
Applying her degree in mathematics, Brigit’s previous research involved the development of an affordable technology that extends the lifespan of reeds. This research focused on increasing accessibility to music by minimizing economic barriers to learning reed instruments. Her current research applies her acoustic perspective to bassoon intonation pedagogy and practical acoustic coursework for performers.
Her love for the bassoon translates into joyful creativity on the stage and in the classroom. Brigit directs the Viking Bassoon Ensemble in three yearly performances, published her composition FLEX with TrevCo Music in 2025, and continues to develop innovative pedagogical resources for bassoonists.
