Bruce Tychinski is on faculty at the University of Delaware, where he teaches applied lessons on trombone and euphonium, directs the Trombone Choir and UD Slides jazz trombone ensemble and teaches low brass methods. Dr. Tychinski is an active performer and clinician in the Northeast with orchestras, bands, jazz and commercial groups, and chamber ensembles.

Throughout his career, Dr. Tychinski has performed and recorded with many orchestras, chamber groups and jazz ensembles. Currently, Dr. Tychinski performs with the Lancaster Symphony, Washington Trombone Ensemble, Nittany Trombone Quartet, and is principal trombonist of the Gulf Coast Symphony in Biloxi, Mississippi. He has also performed with the Altoona Symphony, Harrisburg Symphony, Louisiana Philharmonic, Mississippi Symphony, Mobile Symphony, Green Bay Symphony, Eugene Opera and others, as well as with many well-known artists including Rosemary Clooney, the Four Tops, Drifters, Leslie Gore, Lou Christie and Connie Francis, to name a few. Compact disc recordings to his credit include the Southern Miss Trombone Choir, Skyline Brass Quintet, American Wind Symphony Orchestra, Boulevard Big Band, Big Band Reunion, the University of Kansas Symphonic Band, the Penn State Alumni Trombone Choir, and an upcoming release with the Washington Trombone Ensemble.

Dr. Tychinski has performed as a soloist and chamber musician throughout the United States and internationally. Twice he has been invited to perform as a soloist at the Eastern Trombone Workshop and recently was a member of the William Cramer Trombone Choir at the International Trombone Festival. In 2007, he was the featured soloist with the University of Southern Mississippi Wind Ensemble, performing Paul Creston's Fantasy for Trombone. He has toured Europe three times as a soloist and conductor with groups from Blue Lake Fine Arts Camp, participated in a cultural outreach program in Trujillo, Peru, and led the Southern Miss Trombone Choir on a tour of Germany in 2009. Dr. Tychinski performed Philip Sparke's Concerto for Trombone with the University of Delaware Wind Ensemble in March 2011. He is also heading a consortium to commission a new work for trombone and band by Jack Stamp that he will premiere in 2013.

Students of Dr. Tychinski have included winners of the ITA George Roberts Bass Trombone Competition, the Mississippi Symphony Young Artist Competition, MTNA Brass State Competitions, and Collegiate Concerto Competitions. Others have been awarded graduate assistantships, been selected for high school All-State ensembles, gone on to study music at the collegiate level, and been finalists in solo and chamber music competitions on state, national, and international levels.

Dr. Tychinski holds Bachelor and Master of Music in Trombone Performance degrees from Penn State University and the Doctor of Musical Arts in Trombone Performance degree from the University of Kansas. Prior to his appointment at the University of Delaware, Dr. Tychinski taught at the University of Southern Mississippi, St. Norbert College and the University of Northern Iowa.
